Rejection through a Kingdom lens
Moses- was a Hebrew boy growing up as an Egyptian…His being set apart, is what set him up to be used by God.
David- was the youngest of his eight brothers and his stature did not stand up against his older brother- Eliab. Yet, God still chose HIM, to fulfill the call of King and slay a giant.
Noah- In an evil and wicked world, Noah was set apart and righteous. What set him apart, caused him to have favor in the eyes of the Lord- he endured being ridiculed and mocked but he and his offspring went on to replenish the ENTIRE earth while everyone else perished!
If you’re feeling like you don’t “belong”, I’m pretty sure you’re on the right track…
We teach our kids to be leaders, to be set apart and stand up for truth, but the moment someone “rejects us”, we begin to frantically let thoughts of doubt and anxiety consume and cripple us…and I’m not only speaking to believers in regards to the notion that this world is not our home…I’m also speaking to the believers who experience this amongst other believers…Often times, that’s the most painful kind of rejection that we can feel; when your own brothers and sisters in Christ cut you off for one reason or another.
Social media is a prime example of this. “Sects of Christianity” are all vying for the loudest voice. Ostracizing and “unfollowing” any believer who may interpret the “non- essentials” differently than they do. I’ve had my fair share of rejection, and it doesn’t feel good. But because something doesn’t “feel good” doesn’t mean it isn’t good for you. It reminds me that this world is not my home- I am only passing through. It reminds me that I don’t live for the approval of man, but for the Lord. It reminds me that those pangs of rejection are painful- often times because it comes from those closest to you or those that you may hold in high regard- but in either instance, no one’s thoughts of you should come before the One who knows your every thought.
Surrender any and all idolatry of self (as you seek to make yourself feel comfortable and accepted) and any and all idolatry of others (as you seek their approval of you).
You live for an audience of ONE. Move forward accordingly. 🤍
Processing rejection hits differently when you realize your “feelings” and “need for approval” have most likely become an idol that needs to be surrendered…Not to mention, as I read through Scripture, it sure looks like a whole lot of “rejected people” being used by God…As long as you are living in accordance and obedience with His Word- acceptance of people (non- believers and believers alike) is neither here nor there. Love them anyway. Remain steadfast and focused.
