Delight in the hiddenness of being his helpmate…
Hey sis…
So he left his socks on the floor again, huh?
I promise it won’t hurt you to pick them up.
…He left his dirty dish next to the sink?
I promise it won’t kill you to put it IN the sink.
…So, he fell asleep early, when he said he’d stay up and talk with you?
I promise it won’t do any harm if you stayed up and prayed for him instead.
Our men need us. There’s a reason God designed it so that we be their HELP MATE. Sometimes being the “helper” isn’t glamorous and can make you feel like a hamster on an endless hamster wheel. But there is glory in the hiddenness of what you do.
Maybe if you asked the Lord to give you a glimpse of your husband through HIS eyes, your perspective would shift…
You’d have gratitude for the dirty socks that walked with him each step of that day, as he worked hard to provide for your family.
You’d be thankful that there’s an empty dish by the sink, because that means he ate a hearty, nourishing meal.
You’d be thankful that he’s getting rest, because you know that he gets up to help you as best he can with the baby who wakes at night, all while still waking up early to show up at his job.
Delight in the hiddenness of helping your husband. The world makes demands of him every day when he shows up to work, let home be a place of comfort and peace…not huffs and puffs and vain quarrels. He needs you to be his helper- not his Mother- not a nagger. Be his helpmate…Delight in that for the glory of the Lord.
Delight in the hiddenness of helping him.
