Be his helpmate.

In your pursuit of praying for your husband and that the Lord protects him from any scheme of the enemy and any stronghold of lust, ask the Lord to also search your heart.

You cannot demand something of him that you, yourself, have no accountability or standard for.

If there is a hint of sexual immorality (or any sin for that matter), turn it off, switch the station, look away… BE ABOVE REPROACH.

Women want men to have “eyes only for them”, all while they allow garbage into their own.

You cannot be an admirer of celebrities and the lack of clothing that the majority of them wear and call it “fashion”, but expect him to call it “sin” and look away.

You cannot look at trending tv shows like “the bachelor” and call it “entertainment”, but expect him to call it “sin” and look away.

You cannot glorify sin and lust in your own life and demand that your husband walk in purity and be above reproach.

Be his helpmate – help him. Your pursuit of purity and holiness is equally as important as his. The expectation does not change simply because “he is a man”.

You are both joint heirs with Christ. Both called to holiness.

_____

…yesterday when the halftime show was about to turn on, hubs switched the tv off.

Brissa said: “Daddy, why did you turn the tv off?”

He replied: “…because we don’t need to see any of that.”

I told her: “Your Daddy is a man of integrity…”

Even if there was the possibility that there could be nothing overtly sinful about what the performance might have been, to be above reproach means to avoid the possibility of entering into sin. If the world is performing, we expect that the performance would be to satisfy our flesh- because that is all they know.

I respect my husband greatly for how seriously he treats the entertainment of sin- even if it’s “just on TV.” We were not always here…but praise God for grace and how the Holy Spirit works on us and refines us, as we live in submission to the Lord. It’s all because of Him. Allll of the glory goes to Him.

It’s not “just a tv show”, it’s not “just a song”…it is a foothold that you willingly give to the enemy. Don’t give it to him. Be above reproach.

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.”
1 John 2:15-17

“For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world.”
1 John 2:16

“That you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world.”
Phillipians 2:15

“But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints.”
Ephesians 5:3

“Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion.”
Proverbs 11:22
