Stop “simplifying” the Gospel for your children- the Holy Spirit in them will be ignited by the Word of God
Your children don’t need Jesus “simplified” for their understanding…
They just need Jesus.
I think we get unnecessarily caught up in trying to bring the Bible down to a child-like understanding, making things cute, fun and entertaining.
The reality is, if you read Scripture as is and lead by example, their spirit man picks up exactly what it needs in order for them to keep growing and walking in relationship with their creator.
That’s the power of the living Word of God. There are things that even we (adults) do not fully understand as we read it…but the power of the Holy Spirit still moves and circumcises our heart to become more like Christ, as we spend time in His Word.
The Word of God is what renews our mind and gives us understanding. Why would it be any different for our children?
Read the Word of God to them…the pure, unadulterated, Word of God. Let it transform them. Pray with them. Lay hands on them. Declare His Word over their life. Their Spirit man will grow in depth and desire for Him.
The Word of God is what will keep them grounded and walking in truth, in a world where what is right is being called wrong and what is wrong is being called right. Read it to them daily.
Your children don’t need Jesus “simplified” for their understanding…
They just need Jesus.
Every night we usually pray with and lay hands on the kids before they go to sleep. Last night I didn’t feel well, and fell asleep much earlier than planned. The big girls came in my room to wake me up, to pray with them before they went to sleep…I told them I just could not get up, they’d have to go to sleep without me tucking them in…
About 20 minutes later I started feeling much better so I got up to check on them, and walked out to the sweetest note that they wrote for me, propped up on their stuffed animals🥺
Then I walked into their room and I said “girls, I’m feeling much better, let me pray with you…” Brissa (my oldest) looked at me and said “Mummy, I knew you weren’t feeling well, so I decided I would pray for us tonight…so I laid hands on Eden’s head and my head and prayed over us and we also asked God to heal you…”. You guyssss🥺 The Holy Spirit is ALIVE in our children…don’t underestimate all that their Spirit-man is picking up as you lead them day in and day out.
You may not know exactly which seeds you plant, are being “watered”, but that’s not your job…your job is to faithfully plant seeds each day, and trust the Holy Spirit to water those seeds.
Moments like last night are a testament to the fruit that will come forth as you faithfully serve, teach and lead your children. Don’t grow weary in your call. Everything you do matters. Every little response, reaction, prayer and time spent reading the Word- it’s real deal Kingdom work and matters!
